OS LUSÍADAS are a product of the genius and the time in which they were written. The first thing we tried to do was turn the text into a visual form to separate these two levels. That is: the important thing is not WHAT happens but HOW it happens. The main situation inscribed in the poem is a TRIP, a route, a state of transit. The text contains other situations that TODAY have a minor impact. Nowadays the ocean is comparable to outer space and the truth is that we know almost everything about colonization, etc. The question is who wrote this trip, who is inside the poem. Luís de Camões lived and died as a dog. Lonely. Poor. A meager 56 years of life. To him we owe the text. To him we owe a nationality. Camões used wonderful words to create the spiritual body of a nation. The third level of the Lusiads is an immense secret knowledge. Camões wrote hundreds of pages filled with names like Jupiter, Venus, Andromeda, etc. For what? Why so much mythological artillery? Gods, planets, heroes, criminals and losers were part of their intimacy.
